Information Palate handles

Palate stores account and login identifiers, expert profile and channel metadata, source identifiers, indexed items, chunks, quotes, paid-query receipts, checkout records, wallet and payout metadata, follower emails, unsubscribe tokens, weekly recap delivery events, prompt-click events, DMCA submissions, support messages, and operational logs needed to run the service.

Private channel credentials, OAuth connector tokens, and private RSS URLs are encrypted at rest. Follower email addresses are encrypted at rest and stored with a deterministic lookup hash for abuse prevention, duplicate handling, unsubscribe, and delivery workflows.

How information is used

Palate uses this information to authenticate users, index expert-approved sources, quote and answer questions, show citations, process payments, route expert payouts, send follower emails, enforce rate limits, detect abuse, respond to rights claims, debug incidents, improve product quality, and comply with legal and operational obligations.

Private item citations resolve to Palate-hosted item pages that expose only the cited chunks the buyer paid for. Private source URLs and private channel credentials are not returned through public API responses.

Service providers

Palate uses service providers for hosting, authentication, data storage, payments, stablecoin or agent-payment facilitation, email delivery, analytics, error monitoring, transcription, source connectors, LLM synthesis, embeddings, and operational logging. These providers process information as needed to provide their services to Palate.

Payment details are handled by payment providers such as Stripe or supported agent-payment rails. Palate stores payment and receipt metadata needed for checkout, settlement, audit, and support, but does not store full card numbers.

Email choices

Following a Palate by email is free and single opt-in. Welcome, weekly recap, re-engagement, and lifecycle emails include a physical mailing address, an unsubscribe link, and List-Unsubscribe headers where supported.

Unsubscribing stops follower emails for that Palate. Palate may still send transactional or relationship messages about account, payment, security, legal, or operational issues.

Privacy choices

Users may request access, correction, deletion, or other privacy help by emailing hello@palate.inc. Palate may need to retain some records for security, fraud prevention, payment, legal, audit, backup, or legitimate operational reasons.

Palate does not sell personal information. If product behavior changes in a way that requires a different privacy notice or opt-out mechanism, the privacy policy and product controls must be updated before launch of that behavior.

Security and retention

Palate uses access controls, encrypted secrets, encrypted sensitive fields, managed production key resources, rate limits, audit logs, and provider security controls to protect the service. No internet service can guarantee perfect security.

Palate keeps information for as long as needed to provide the service, support user and expert workflows, resolve disputes, comply with obligations, maintain audit records, and operate backups. Owner deletion flows remove Palate-scoped product records where implemented, subject to required retention.
